Project “Light for all”
Free Tunisia, in the spirit of its mission, is starting a project that aims to provide immediate access to light for underprivileged and poor households who do not have access to the electrical grid. Free Tunisia chose the Nokero N100 Solar powered Bulb because it embodies the idea of simple efficient solutions to difficult and entrenched problems. We aim to start this effort with an initial project to benefit 100 families located in the north western regions of Tunisia in the states of Beja, Jendouba and Kef.
These families were selected by our FT team on the ground after locating rural towns that are not yet linked to the national electrical grid, each family will receive 3 Nokeros that will last on average 5 years. Furthermore this product will make it possible for kids to do their homework after dark under a safe light source eliminating the dangers of fire and assuring a continuity in their schooling for a better future.
This project will cost $4500 in purchase and delivery cost, we call on all friends of Tunisia to help us reach this goal before 03/28/2011 the date we have set to ship the Light-bulbs to these families and start making a huge difference in their lives. You can make a donation on our website or send it to our address.
*The Nokero N100 solar LED light-bulb is meant to replace kerosene lamps as a lighting source in the developing world. The company says 1.6 billion people still lack sufficient access to electricity, and many burn fossil fuels for light, which can be dangerous and expensive.
